Proverbs 31:30

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

Mondays with Mike

Did I say “Every Monday with Mike?”. No, I did not. Never the less, I will try to post more. I just came back from the dentist so I do not feel like working right now. I want to talk about my top 5 favorite video games of all time. Everyone as a top 5 and here are mine.

5. NES – Ninja Gaiden. When I was younger I was obsessed with being a ninja. I think I was a ninja for 3 years in a row for Halloween. I had the sword (katana), throwing stars (shuriken) etc. When I opened my latest issue of Nintendo Power and saw this game I knew I had to have it.

4. PSOne - Metal Gear Solid. I rented this game in college when I was “sick” one day. I had never heard of it but looked cool and thought, what the hey. When I started playing and the opening was just like out of movie, I knew that this was going to be good. By the end I had several of my friends coming after class just to watch me play and finish the game.

3. Xbox – Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. Over the years many SW games have tried to win our hearts like the original trilogy. However, most have been bitter disappointments ala the new trilogy. This is one of the few exceptions. At the time I wasn’t a big RPG fan but wanted to play this game due to the cool plot and game play. This was the first game to show what it was like to BE a Jedi. (New game coming out called Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Looks promising. Check out a screenshot here.

2. NES- Legend of Zelda. This game was my childhood. I remember coming home after school and playing till dinner. I then lied about my homework being done and played till bedtime. Then when it was safe, I played some more. (Sorry Mom and Dad). I remember so vividly burning all these freaking bushes and it taking forever because all I had was the retarded blue candle. But, I was so hooked I kept doing it.

1. Okay. This was hard to decide on. I had a hard enough time trying to decide what should be in my top 5. But I tried to put games in here that I remember playing and must have made an impression because I can practically remember the whole game. So, my favorite game has to be…….

Xbox – Halo. The reasons for this being my favorite game are many. The Xbox was my first console bought with my hard earned money from my first job. I was also now married and Amy buying me the Xbox for Christmas was very special to me. So, Halo was the first game played on this new system. I loved the plot of the game and the game play. The weapons, vehicles and everything else made this game the perfect gaming experience.

I didn’t include my games from the Xbox 360 which I received this Christmas. I do think some of those games will make my top 5 but it is too early to tell. I will talk about these games in future posts.

Till next Monday. (or some Monday in the future.)

Um ... yeah. *sigh* I'll pretend to be really glad that you posted today even if it meant I had to read about video games!!

Okay, seriously, it's fun to hear from you, even if it's all about video games. Hope you guys are doing well. Tell Amy to post again soon, and give Autumn a hug for me.

Halo!?! Best game ever!?!

Hmmm.

It's simply doesn't have the staying power of a game like Ninja Gaiden or Zelda...or Contra... or Mario for that matter.

Metal Gear Solid was a ... "solid" game.

Apparently, you've never owned a PC. No Warcraft. No Diablo. No Elder Scrolls. NO CIVILIZATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And what of Tecmo Bowl.

Alas, should I be critical... I don't want to scare Mike off for good. :) I'm just passionate about my gaming.

Welcome to the blog world Mike. Am I surprised you already discussed your favorite video games...? No. By the way, how did you leave Mario Kart 64 off ("look out for the turtles")? Don't you remember the glory days of Harding and living in the Allen dorm? I am disapppointed.

Mike, check out my blog. I've got a recent Star Wars trailer you might like. I'd be surprised if you haven't already seen it.
